turnip glut

We had a go at growing turnips on the allotment this year. Now we have harvested a load, does anyone have any fantastic turnip recipes I should know about? I don't think I've ever eaten turnip before.

I love turnips - but I can't think of any recipes off of the top of my head. I normally have it as a side dish (boiled). It's nice served with other root veggies or in casseroles.

Of course there's always the obvious - turnip soup! I've seen quite a few good soup recipes on the internet...
AllRecipes.com is one of my favorite sources, you might find some good recipes there. I typically just cut up turnips and cook them in the crockpot with pot roast (and w/ onion and carrot). They're really good, tender and flavorful after cooking for 6 hours! You could also boil them just like potato's and mash them up.
I'm making rutabagas tonight and found out that turnips, rutabagas and kolrabi are all very similar. So, this is my favorite kolrabi recipe. http://www.fullsunfarm.com/2010/05/28/simple-sauteed-kohlrabi/
